Ersari Carpets was founded by Haji Rehman Qul. He is one of the oldest names in the history of rug trade. We are third generation in the carpet business. Our grand father initiated the business more then fifty years ago and with that he pegged our destiny to carpet trade. Whole heartedly involved in the Mission of Development of Carpet Industry.
Since last ten years, we deal mainly with the cream of hand made carpets with ancient designs as these are the true jewels of the industry. The times may have changed, but the essence of our business remains the same.

I would like to introduce you to the manufecturing of a hand made rug or lets say HOW A RUG IS BORN.

1. Fur is shaved off from sheep which has prominent white color because it will make fine white wool.

2. The fur that undergoes a process with the help of which it is converted into thread is called “WOOL”.

3. The colour of the wool is than change according to the graph and colour combination of the rug.

4. The wool is coloured with natural colour like red from pomegranate (anar) or water millon, dry fruits, some roots & bark of trees, other vegi colours which last for long.

5.The wool colouring is the an important step that determines the right quality & peculiarity of the carpet. Usually there is a seperate department called colouring department, The supervisor of that department has a specialised traning & years of experiance that enable him to make the right combination of colouring ingredients in the colouring process. A slight increase or decrease of quantity disturbs the desire color of the wool.

6. Another important & perhaps the crucial step of carpet waving is to draw a graph & image of the carpet on the paper with each minute detail so that the carpet waver could easily understand the every single knot of the carpet design & map. The person who supervises this department has a specialised knowled & an experianced draftman.

7.When the coloured wool, according to the color combination of the carpet design & related graph been provided to the carpet waver along with other raw materials, the carpet start waving on the carpet loom.
Carpet waving is a cultural & traditional skill of the folk life. Normally it is said that every new born child has the hereditary skills to waving. thats why this cultural & traditional occupation has its hereditary standing & determines the livelihood of majority afghans & tribal dwellers.

5. A rug with the size of 5 SQM will consume at least 28 kilos of fine wool, and in 40 to 45 days approximately 5 Square meter Carpet Can be waved.
